Thursday, May 22, 2008 zomg - man utd - ftw
second day of 2nd year college ends tonight, and it's been a pretty good run, 'cept for a mildly PHAIL non-session of HARTDS1 earlier haha. Kino Eye is ambitious, and we aim to pierce the heavens with our Kino Drill Breaker, blast that probational status to hell. it sucks that I'm not with Aya everytime, but hey, that's life, and every minute I've been with her so far for the past few days have been great, I couldn't ask for more. haha, well, I can't have everything right now, because there won't be anything left for the future! all in all though, today was made of some KICK ASS FUCKING EPIC WIN!!! last year I could've just went my way and slept as Liverpool battled AC Milan for the Champions League trophy, but hey I had some company to watch with, so yeah. today, I sat it out in the comfort of my room, 2AM in the morning, with a pulled calf muscle to boot as I prepared for the maddest 3 hours of the year so far. for those lost, it was the Champions League final, the first all English final, my team Manchester United against arch-rivals Chelsea in Moscow's Luzhinki Stadium. fuck yeah. I have classes, but screw that. I still ain't sleeping. the minute I got home, it was dinner and all that, online for a while to chat with Aya, then off to bed. I was already about to fall asleep, my alarm set for 2AM, but dad arrived with some burgers from McDo, and how could I resist? I ate and had to let it go down, eating an hour of my sleep as I watched AOTS to pass time by. I was asleep by 11pm, but in between that and 2am I remember waking up and silently cringe in pain due to a cramp on my left calf. it's those weird spells when you wake up a split second, feel some pain and then fall back asleep in another split second. anyway, I did wake up, but slightly late at 2:30AM, but gladly the match hadn't started yet, it was still opening ceremonies and the teams were just about to walk out on to the pitch. well, my left calf is still cramped, a muscle pulled and I struggled limping to my seat, I stretched it out trying to get rid of some of the pain the buildup to the game was tense, nerve racking. Man United won the Premier League, and everyone's eyes were set for Moscow. the FA Cup final between Portsmouth and Cardiff passed by without much fanfare if any, but I think things would've been louder if Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool were playing in it as usual. Portsmouth won, blah, as I'd have sided with Cardiff since, that'll be some epic history. Luzinkhi Stadium. It's familiar territory for United center-back Nemanja Vidic, but the media put on the spotlight some problems with the pitch. no matter that the game will be played within two days due to the time zone differences between UK's designated kickoff time and Moscow, the final started on the 21st, ended on the 22nd, weird if I may, but more attention was paid to the pitch quality. the pitch was comprised of artificial turf, which drew some complaints after a match between England and Russia, well who wouldn't complain, as the English teams aren't used to playing in artificial turf. The stadium tried to import fresh natural turf, but that didn't go their way and they ended up playing in the artificial turf anyway. that turf will prove to be one of the most crucial elements in the match. it was a typical ManU-Chelsea match, quick breaks, the ball going nowhere in midfield. typical runs on the side from Ronaldo, typical advances by Drogba. first blood fell to Scholes, who had his nose bleeding after a clash with Makelele, seeing both players booked with a yellow. I wasn't expecting much goals in it, but to my surprise Ronaldo scored in the 26th minute, soaring above everyone to head in a cross from Wes Brown after some terrific passing play between him and Scholes. tired eyes shot wide open and I managed to leap to my feet, but I was immediately brought down by the pain on my left calf, although jumping did manage to stretch it out and reduce the pain, haha. United looked to take the lead at the break and also had a bunch of clear chances that would've kept the game to them more, but the pitch would cause an error sooner or later to cause the tides to turn. Essien cannoned a shot to goal that deflected off Ferdinand and Vidic, and Lampard was there to turn the ball in, and that's where the pitch came in. Van Der Sar lost his footing and slipped, leaving Chelsea to score and make the game more interesting now. my heart was fucked up at this point, optimistic at the start even if pundits were leaning on Chelsea (home advantage, Chelski after all is powered by Russian Oil XD), and after having some heavy nerves lifted with an early goal, I got deflated by the late equalizer. game on I say. GAME ON. my eyes want to sleep, but my body presses on, and I only allow myself to lie on my bed for the 15 minute break, and back promptly in front of the TV for the 2nd half. If the first half belonged to United, this one belonged to Chelsea. It was terrifying seeing United being pushed back and threatened, the biggest scare came from a Drogba shot that beat Van Der Sar, but was hit wide after hitting the left post. more chances came, and even a shot that was supposed to be a definite goal by Ryan Giggs was miraculously headed away by an instinctive John Terry. nothing came out of the 2nd half, and soon enough we were in extra time, where the action stayed fairly the same, only with a bit more desperation. at this point though, Rooney was already off and on was Nani and Giggs, who took the wings so that Ronaldo can act in the center with Tevez, still a fairly deadly combination from United. by the end of extra time's 2nd half though, there was a big spat between Chelsea and ManU in a confrontation between Tevez and Ballack, tensions high, heads hot as usual. all the players were in a big clash and the referees had to peel each other away from each other. Drogba made a stupid ass move though in this one. thought he was hidden away from referees' eyes by bodies, he provoked a hot headed Vidic with a slap on the jaw, but replays clearly showed that the linesman had a dead-on view of this scenario. United players held back Vidic, knowing that Drogba will surely get what's coming and they don't need any wrong moves. Tevez and Ballack were showed yellow for starting the thing, but Drogba got sent off righteously. Bye bye stupid dog. I thought there'd surely be a twist with Chelsea now down to 10, but no, we arrive in penalties. heart racing like crazy now. who knew that the sending off of Drogba could affect this one, as well as the pitch which caused Van Der Sar to slip, gifting Chelsea their lifeline. Clinical penalties as each player sent the goalies the wrong way, but the BIG twist was from, of all people, Cristiano Ronaldo. His effort was saved by Cech (and after seeing the replay, it wasn't with his hands, but with his FACE)...my heart sunk at the moment as I seriously thought it was game over. Iunno, I couldn't watch the TV anymore, I had my head down, already bracing for defeat, and hoping for a miracle. lo and behold, it came. Chelsea's penalty hitters had been spent, and if Drogba was here to take one, it would HAVE been game over...but they needed someone to step up for the 5th penalty, the one which could win them the trophy. Who would step up other than Captain Terry, who will attempt to win Chelsea their first CL trophy in their first CL final. is history to be made? but fate is cruel, and artificial pitch is cruel. as Terry strode to hit the ball, his trailing foot slipped on the pitch, sending his shot away awkwardly and well wide of the post. my heart kicked back up and I could practically die from a heart attack at this point. it's now a sudden death shootout, the first miss, or the first save, could decide it. after a few more kicks, the gamebreaker came. after Giggs coolly slotted his shot in, Anelka marched on to the spot. JOY. FUCKING JOY. Anelka hit his shot to the left, and Edwin was there, palming his shot away with both hands, and as that happened, you could see his face burst out into an expression of joy, the whole stadium rocking, as Van Der Sar became the hero that won United only their 3rd European Cup. I was jumping like a madman, crazy! Football, bloody hell!!! all that was left was to enjoy the celebration! Chelsea fans were crestfallen, as was I before John Terry made that CRUCIAL miss. John Terry though, as the commentators put it, was inconsolable. Everyone in the team tried to cheer him up to no avail. United though, ecstasy. The double! EPL Champions, and Champions League victors!!! the celebration was mad!!! in that moment, I was jumping like mad, my left calf wasn't hurting anymore, and all drowsiness disappeared! hell yeah!!! I don't know if this blog will do any justice much to the atmosphere felt by United fans everywhere...haha, I don't know how you'll write a report clearly after all that. Ronaldo's miss, spared by Terry's. Cruel luck for Chelsea, big break for United. alas, I can draw this season's football to a close with a big smile. I absolutely cannot wait for next season, like Alex Ferguson said, this is probably his best team yet, and I'd have to agree, given the wealth of options to play, especially in midfield. after the game I tried to sleep, it was around 6:30AM already, and I tried to catch some sleep for at least an hour...I did, and woke up probably on instinct at 7:30...immediately off to breakfast and bath, leaving for the commute to school, proudly wearing my Manchester United shirt. EPIC DAMN W0000000T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _ lol. proper blog about other life stuff soon. haha. Tuesday, May 13, 2008 Creative Directorness and a broken MRT
so yeah, I'm in it. I've had no sleep, decent ones anyway this week so far. I compiled the organizations' videos for the FOP presentation, and went with Aya early to school to stay in the cubes and do stuff. like, decorate the cubes with KinoEye posters, flyers, make references in Korean, expose DBSK to the public, etc. and sometimes I'd try to catch sleep on the bench XD today I brought the laptop along so I'd have some entertainment. well, today also was the first brainstorming of the KE team, mostly for the StAR Week booth and presentation. freaking deadline as everything (or at least most) has to get done before school starts on the 21st. w00t. well they did most of the work conceptualizing the booth and the promotional materials, I've helped in tossing some ideas around as well. sad thing is there's a complete team of officers but no real active members. XD gonna be back at the cubes on friday! and summer ends earlier since we'll have to make ready our StAR Week booths before the 21st, meaning there's work to be done on the 19th and 20th! I like the work anyway haha! ------------------------------------------ what's up the commute today, everyone's freaking packing the places. if it's not devilishly traffic on the road, the MRT's pretty much packed to death. what sucks mostly today is that the commute to school got derailed since the MRT had a big problem this morning and had some massive delay. on the flipside though, this opened the door to me gaining a backup plan in such situations XD the station announced it's acceptance of ticket refunds, and I cashed in mine. aya and dad told me to take a bus, the LRT-Ayala-Leveriza route, and which I did. loooool...first long-distance bus commute evar. was in an aircon bus at least, but the benches had almost NO legroom. to get comfortable I had to occupy the whole of the 2 seater on the right side...at least there weren't much people in the bus. big wtf right after though, as if it wasn't already traffic much, the bus was stopped by MMDA pigs, the reason, I don't know. the bus eventually got moving, and before people started contemplating leaving and riding another bus. I decided to fall asleep and catch up on a few Z's, and I did fairly easy. I woke up near Buendia, and at that point people started coming in the bus. I had to give up the space I occupied and make do with the killer legroom. anyway...traffic-ey crawl through Ayala avenue where almost 90% of the passengers eventually left. In minutes I was already in Buendia, just below the LRT station. I took the jeep to Vito Cruz haha. all in all, it's a level up for me. now I have an easier and cheaper alternative for getting to school, and at least I can fall asleep in an aircon bus. downside is, it's a lot more time consuming so I'd have to cater my schedule to one that can accommodate regularly taking the bus. looooool i'm so proud of myself. freakingly. _ Champions 07/08
Manchester United were crowned the Premier League champions again, retaining their title from last season! haha, the gold badge again for next season's kit! well, it's kinda a bit lacking since they got crowned away from Old Trafford, with only a stand of visiting ManU fans sharing the moment at the JJB. what sucks more for me is that none of the sports channels on local cable showed the ManU game! I probably bet that in the rest of SE Asia they showed quite massive coverage to such an important event, with not just the trophy up for grabs but tournament positions, survivals, etc, but NO, the Philippines only gets Chelsea vs Bolton. fuck basketball. but anyway, I did watch the Chelsea/Bolton game in it's entirety, and at least the ticker at the bottom of the screen updated us on goalscorers for the games happening simultaneously, and also a small video clip of the important goals. I can't say that I wasn't nervous, heck I was nervous the whole week. after all, ManU and Chelsea were tied, with only a solid goal difference gap to keep them apart, and all the pressure's on ManU. the match started, and I kept a keen eye on the game. I also had the PC on the ManU website giving me live text updates, but they arrived way too late as it happened, the site reported Ronaldo's penalty scorer almost 10 minutes after it was actually scored. I didn't get to celebrate the goal, but there was something more worth celebrating, and that was the sight of Stamford Bridge, worrying their asses off to hell and being toned down after they learned of United's goal...heck Bolton was holding them off quite well at 0-0. the crowd on their phones, radios, even Roman Abramovich all got word of the goal. Chelsea eventually scored and put them back into a chance after halftime, but still Bolton was determined to hold off. Magic though, as in the ManU match, record-setting Ryan Giggs netted the second goal of the game, almost sealing the trophy in ManU's grasp. again, Chelsea fans stunned at the news. I was already celebrating my ass off, and it was killing me that I couldn't see the game live, couldn't see the celebration...but again, there was another reason to have a smug smile watching the Chelsea game. In almost the last kick of the game, Bolton put one in Petr Cech's net, and settled the game to a draw...and in this one, all the Chelsea fans clearly don't like what they just saw. Hearts surely dropped. haha...all is well! anyway, this moment of joy expired the day after the game...since Chelsea have a chance at revenge and history as they face off again with the Reds at Moscow, in the first ever all-English UEFA Champions League final. ironically, "Chelski" is listed as the home side XD w00t! nervous again! and what's gonna suck more is that I have classes by then! should I stay up and watch the game and take the day off? (HECK IT'S ONLY GONNA BE THE SECOND DAY OF CLASS XD) or do what some friends did last year. watch the game...go to school right after lol haha. and what sucks more is that I'm in dire need of a PS3 and MGS4. >.< _ Tuesday, April 29, 2008 the summer update
haha, well, I doubt I'll have any beach time this summer but I'm loving being in the city. I am heading off to Subic this weekend, we're gonna stay at the YC and well, I may swim, but I'd rather chill in the bathroom hot tub lol. In the morning I'd probably head off to the nearby football field and work on my crosses. no details yet on that supposed summer job at an ad agency, but I am onboard some commissions for the resto. KinoEye, well, it's being pushed to the back of my thoughts for the moment, the past few weeks have been all-out football. I've started playing MMOs again, thanks to Aya. We picked up the copies of Granado Espada which we got at the 2007 Toycon and endured a hellish long update process, we were using the open beta kits after all, there'd definitely be hell to update. I had two short special effect snippets planned for myself this summer, and I haven't done any lol. One was to blow up somebody's head using either a punch or a gun, I'd rather go with the punch for a more wtf effect, and the other snippet is that I'll blow up something using a kamehameha. stupid, but cool. so anyway it's been a hellish season of football for Manchester United. you come back from a poor start to the season to contest Arsenal's grasp at the top. after finally knocking out the gunners out of the race, here comes Chelski (yeahp, that's no typo. I call em CHELSKI) to again threaten the title. fuck them. and when United had the chance to win the league last saturday at Stamford Bridge, you lose 2-1, and by a penalty. fuck them. now you're tied with the fucking blues, only sitting at number one because of goal difference, and you absolutely must win your next two games, home against West Ham and away against Wigan. fuck them. oh, and tonight is a difficult Champions League 2nd leg semifinal at home against Barcelona. the 1st leg was 0-0, but now United can't win on away goals. they have to beat Barca outright. well, that'd be one way to shut up critics after having a recent shaky run in the league. *sigh* oh, and summer football. well I don't go to Sunken Garden and play along, my two brothers are attending Union FC's summer camp in Corinthians. turns out my dad enlisted me too, but I'm not doing most of the drills since...hey I'm a big guy, most of the other peeps there are small kids, so I'm just playing along once or twice, keeping my eye on the two and trying to give Trik some tips. learned a better technique for curling the ball and dipping the ball from a cool Egyptian dude, who's also an incoming sophomore in college, but in Ateneo. he can pull of some nice tricks with the ball too, and has a killer shot. I can't kick really hard since I'm not that fit, but I can place the ball well, and thanks to the technique he taught me, I can curl it more often than usual. I'm not playing in any of the summer tournaments since I'm way past the age limit, but I do want my own Union FC kit though, it looks sweet, and that'd be way better than wearing someone else's kit most of the time. The kits are made by Mizuno, and for some reason, they look hella better than the Philippine team's kits. w00t. and I've been out constantly last week, haha, to Corinthians for football, three days in Greenhills, a weekend over at our relatives' place, and a business meeting in Megamall. haha, haven't shopped for new wardrobe yet tho, but I did finally get me and Aya replacements for our Keroro phone charms. and ironically, we both will have Kagami like we both had Tamama. it's fate Jet says, as I got the phone charms from the gashapon machine on the 28th, our monthsary lol. I would've preferred Konata though, but Kagami's Aya's favorite character. and weird, I jetted off to greenhills yesterday, still in my clothes from the day before lol. I didn't have time to bathe haha. just a spray of axe, and off I go. *tsun tsun* I got a 160GB external drive that's all slim and shiny thanks to my dad, I'll use it when I work or bring the laptop in school. the laptop's not much, it's a generic Dell Inspiron, no widescreen, no shiny screen finish, no Vista, but it's gonna work pretty well for me. I still need at least a new 160GB HDD for my PC though. and did I mention how I would kill right now for a PS3? all the games I want are getting released left and right haha. lots of ambitions. but I need $$$ *sigh* _ Wednesday, April 23, 2008 now onto un-football topics
anyway, notice the change of blog layout, haha, while the old one with the script navigation thingy was cool, I found it too hard to play around with or tweak (aside from the colors), anyway I'm only a n00b at this sort of thing, I never got around to learning anything aside from basic html, Aya could practically pwn the shit out of me in WEBDEV. the new layout, I really like a lot, it's a tad SDA-ish according to Aya, but I'd think that as just a coincidence. it's simple and it works, again, just a modification of an existing layout, but blah, I just found out that I don't have FrontPage after all (doesn't come with Office 2003) so I can't learn how all these fancy codes work for myself. Aya uses FrontPage, and I'm stuck with Notepad. also I changed the layout of my Multiply to a similar style on the same day, haha, I finally learned how to create those twisting ribbons in Illustrator using mesh, although I do find it a bit complicated at times, I am gonna play with it. not really a major change in layout though, I just changed up the pictures used for the headers/sides and changed the color scheme. note the Random Art section of the blog, well, I've always planned on making a consolidated portfolio for all my work, but I don't have the skills yet to create my vision, so I'm still keeping them on the YouTubes for video and deviantArt for stills, but I did create that section so I could embed random works I feel like showcasing. I might not be able to go to Aya-senpai's birthday, since I think we're heading up to Subic during that weekend. We're staying at the Yacht Club again, but this time I'll bring my boots and ball and practice my free kicks at that field in Subic. lol. but I am gonna hang out in school during Aya's stint in the FOP, see her "orient" batch 108. no details yet on the summer job my dad got for me. did submit the resume this week though. if that pushes through I'll be a Makati person for 2 weeks, and will likely be hanging around at Glorietta, much to Aya's delight. I should treat her daw lol...sure then, Boni High tayo or Little Tokyo lol. nothing to download...bah, no new music, Macross F interests me but I won't be really following it, it has some nice animation though, Code Geass R2, nevermind. as far as games go, nothing new. EURO 2008 on the PC doesn't use the next-gen engine, I don't know why EA won't give PC gamers the new engine, Konami gave PC gamers a port of the Xbox360 version, I don't know why EA still continues to give us the last-gen engine. my PS2 has been running up again, haha, it's still alive, I'm playing D1 Grand Prix, aside from Gundam Seed Destiny: Rengou vs ZAFT II PLUS, and Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs ZEON DX. my PSP is empty, so I'm stocking it for the while with mp3s and videos. on the DS, I'm playing The World Ends With You. The battle system is indeed hard for casual gamers, but hey, it's growing on me so far. *sigh* haven't done any major work in Illustrator and Photoshop lately. that's why my dA has been fairly un-updated. my attention got a shift to digital video, as I've been training myself on Premiere and AfterEffects, and soon on Encore DVD. My NLE skills are still basic, but I am focusing more on videography and special effects using AE. I've finished two of my Kawaii Killer intro videos. Poch uses blahblah films on his work, I've decided to use Kawaii Killer on my videos and other work. talk about branding. Aya and Bea will also use the name on our "planned" picture book/fashion photography photobook, watch out for that hehe. working with basic 3d effects in AE is fun and all. rendering isn't haha. I'm gonna be learning Encore DVD now, I plan to publish my two major works this term, "The Heartless King" and "Monogatari no Zetsubou" in one DVD for my own personal collection. yeah, I'm really in deep with film now. I "joined" Kino Eye thanks to Bea, the org's new president hehe and is now helping out to plan the great STAR Week recruitment plan. I have lots of plans and hopefully they all carry out. well, that's gonna be the first big project of the org, a killer recruitment video, application form, and "interview". the interview is only gonna be for the potential people we can tap into for the org's bigger project, which for now, is to produce a one-hour long video. it's gonna be two 30-minute short films back to back ala-grindhouse, and we plan to showcase it in school as an ORDEV-accredited event. haha, puro drama naman kasi pinapakita na plays sa school! Time for some action! lol. no solid plans for genre yet though, although I am pushing for my part to be surrealist, viral and full of meme. Me and Poch will prettify the movies using coloring in AfterEffects and some minor special effects. oh yeah. I don't mind if we can't use the school's cameras, we don't need them. I'm fine working with our DV cameras. although being able to use the school's Mac Pros for rendering the scenes we'll do with AfterEffects and the final output of the movie will be great. That'll save our PC's the strain. hehe, and we need an office in the SDA building. S304 is too small! wtf! haha w00t. our summer just started, and I already have plans in my mind for next term! and yeah, I'm ready for a life in the SDA building. goodbye taft campus! (if not for the S304 cubicle). schedule still pretty sketchy IMO though. still perked up! I do need to catch up on sleep though. xoxo _
